At a heartwarming breakfast meeting hosted by Mr. Richard Castro, owner of 35 McDonald's in West Texas and southeastern New Mexico, seven outstanding students were awarded $1,500 scholarships from LULAC. Mr. Castro, a beloved philanthropist and respected business leader in El Paso, inspired everyone with his keynote speech, encouraging the students to work hard, stay determined, and make their parents proud.

These scholarships were given in memory of six former National LULAC Presidents from El Paso. Meet our exceptional scholarship recipients:

• Reymundo Herrera, Frank J. Galvan Scholarship – Attending the University of Texas at San Antonio

• Cecilia Carreon, Modesto Gomez Scholarship – Attending UTEP

• E. Manuel Chavez, William Flores Scholarship – Attending UTEP

• Hugo Alejandro Gutierrez, Judge Albert Armendariz Scholarship – Attending EPCC and transitioning to UTEP

• Natalia Gonzalez, Belen Robles Scholarship – Attending the University of the Incarnate Word

• Jesus Reyes, Frank J. Galvan Scholarship – Attending UTEP
